Tesla Model 3 — M5 Contamination & Machine Polish, Barnwood
The situation: A software engineer based in Barnwood contacted us about his 2022 Tesla Model 3 in Midnight Silver Metallic. He commuted daily along the M5 between junctions 11 and 11A, and after 18 months the paintwork had developed a rough, grainy texture — classic iron fallout contamination from the heavily braked M5 corridor. The dark metallic paint also showed heavy swirl marks from a contactless car wash used regularly near Quedgeley. He wanted the car prepared to an acceptable standard before a ceramic coating appointment.
What we did: We attended his home in Barnwood for a full day. After a pH-neutral foam pre-soak, we applied an iron fallout remover across all painted surfaces and the alloy wheels, neutralising the embedded metallic particles. We then clay-barred every panel to eliminate any remaining bonded contamination. Following a thorough two-bucket hand wash, we used a dual-action polisher with a medium-cut pad to clear the swirl marks across all panels. We finished with a finishing polish pass and a 6-month polymer sealant as a base before his ceramic coating appointment.
The result: The customer described the car as feeling “like new glass” to the touch after the clay bar stage alone. The polish removed the swirl marks entirely from the bonnet, roof, and boot lid — the most heavily affected areas. He subsequently booked our ceramic coating service for the following week.
