Engine bay. Safe steam clean. No pressure washer risk.

Engine bays collect oil, grime and road contamination that ordinary cleaning cannot reach. We use low-pressure steam — not a pressure washer — to safely degrease around electrics, sensors and wiring without water ingress risk. From £70, at your door.

01 — The Service What's included

Steam, not pressure. Safe degreasing from the inside out.

A pressure washer forces water into connectors, sensors and control units. Steam cleaning uses low-pressure vapour — it dissolves and removes contamination without saturating electrics. Sensitive areas are masked before any moisture is introduced. The result is a clean engine bay without the risk.

  • Electrical masking — fuse box, sensors and exposed connectors protected before work begins
  • Degreaser application — oil, grease and road grime broken down
  • Low-pressure steam clean — removes contamination without saturating electrical components
  • Air dry & inspection — all areas dried, masking removed, result checked
  • Plastic & rubber dressing — engine covers and hoses dressed for a finished look
  • Mechanical repairs — cleaning only; leaks identified and reported, not repaired
  • Interior or exterior clean — add a valet or detail at booking
  • Heavy oil leak remediation — active leaks require mechanical attention first

02 — The visit How it works

Mask, degrease, steam, dress — clean without compromise.

Engine bay cleaning is methodical. Done incorrectly, it causes electrical faults. Done properly, it leaves the bay clean, dry and presented.

i

Masking & preparation ~15 min

Fuse box, exposed electrical connectors, alternator and sensitive components masked with plastic or cloth. Engine allowed to cool if recently driven. Degreaser applied to all contaminated surfaces and left to dwell.

ii

Steam clean ~30 min

Low-pressure steam directed across all engine bay surfaces — dissolves emulsified grease, oil residue and road grime. No high-pressure water. Steam vapour penetrates contamination without saturating connectors or control units.

iii

Extraction & dry ~15 min

Loosened contamination removed. Compressed air used in crevices and around components. Masking removed and all areas checked for residual moisture. Engine started briefly to confirm all systems normal.

iv

Dressing & finish ~15 min

Engine covers, plastic trim and rubber hoses dressed with a non-greasy product for a clean, satin finish. Final inspection together. Result is a bay that looks maintained — not artificially shiny.

Spotless result. Masked the sensitive areas first and used steam rather than a jet wash. Car feels better to maintain now you can see what you're working with.

05 — FAQ Common questions

Everything we get asked before a first booking.

Can't find your answer? Call 0800 208 8885 — we usually pick up within an hour during opening hours.

Is steam cleaning safe for all engine bays?
Low-pressure steam is safe for modern and older engine bays when done correctly. Sensitive components — fuse box, exposed connectors, alternator — are masked before any moisture is introduced. We do not use pressure washers, which force water into connectors.
Does the car need to be cold?
The engine should not be running hot — ideally driven gently and left for 20–30 minutes before we start. A warm engine is fine. Very hot engines risk cracking plastic components if cold water contacts them; steam is less aggressive but we still prefer a cooled engine.
Will it cause electrical problems?
Not when done properly. We mask all critical electrical components before introducing any moisture. We have cleaned hundreds of engine bays without causing electrical faults. If your car has known electrical issues, let us know at booking.
Is engine bay cleaning worth it before selling?
Yes — a clean engine bay signals a well-maintained car and increases buyer confidence, particularly on inspection-heavy cars (prestige, performance). Combine with a pre-sale valet for a complete result.
Can you clean a diesel engine bay?
Yes. Diesel engines often accumulate heavier oil and soot deposits which respond well to degreaser and steam. Larger diesel engines (4x4, commercial) may require the enhanced option.
