Identify, dissolve, clay, polish. Original finish back.
Overspray removal is not a single-product job — different paint types (water-based emulsion, oil-based gloss, road marking paint, industrial coating) require different solvents. Using the wrong approach risks damaging the underlying clear coat. We identify the paint type first, select the correct solvent, clay the residue and machine polish to restore the surface.
- Paint type assessment — overspray identified (water-based, oil-based, road marking, industrial)
- Solvent treatment — appropriate solvent dissolves the overspray without harming the base coat
- Clay decontamination — residual bonded particles removed from the surface
- Machine polish — any marring from removal polished out; surface restored
- Paint thickness check — measurements taken before work to protect the base coat
- Paint that has cured into the clear coat — very old, fully cured industrial overspray may require wet sanding
- Damage to the base coat beneath — overspray that has caused chemical etching of the base coat is a bodywork repair
- Interior paint contamination — paint spill inside the vehicle is quoted separately
